Trenton, NJ, March 23, 2009— Children’s Futures (CF) announced today that Kendell Sprott, M.D., J.D. of UMDNJ has been selected as the new Chair of the Board of Directors and will be joined by Eleanor V. Horne who has been named a new board member. Dr. Sprott, who is Acting Chairman of Pediatrics and senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the New Jersey Medical School, joined the Board in October 2006 and succeeds former New Jersey Health and Senior Services Commissioner Christine Grant as Chair of the Board of Directors. Ms. Horne serves as Vice President at Educational Testing Service (ETS), where she oversees the organization’s Social Investment Fund. "We are so very pleased that Kendell Sprott and Eleanor Horne have agreed to join the Children’s Futures’ Board,” said Floyd, K. Morris, Jr., president of Children’s Futures. “As a pediatrician, Kendell deeply cares about children and, of course, our mission to improve child health and development outcomes. Eleanor has demonstrated her commitment to maximizing educational efficacy and access for children though her work in the community and for ETS’s Social Investment Fund.” He continues, “Their appointments are critical milestones as we prepare ourselves for the challenges of the future. They are equally and uniquely dedicated to advancing the public/private partnerships that will enable Children’s Futures to meet our vision that every Trenton child is born healthy and enters pre-school healthy and ready to learn.” “I am honored to be selected to lead the Board of an organization that reaches out to those in need,” said Dr. Sprott. “Children’s Futures has not only become a leader in programs for vulnerable children and families in Trenton, it has also influenced how the State of New Jersey is looking at meeting the needs of families with children from birth to age three.” In addition to his work at UMDNJ, Dr. Sprott teaches pediatrics in various medical university hospitals. Dr. Sprott has a Bachelor of Science degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, a medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a law degree from Rutgers University School of Law. “I’m looking forward to putting my energy behind the worthy cause this organization embodies,” said Ms. Horne, who is the recipient of many awards and honors including the Donald H.
