Sirvel's Story
Sirvel, her husband Darrick and five sons represent one of the hundreds of families benefiting from the center-based and home visiting programs offered through the centers.
When Sirvel became pregnant with her youngest son Dominic nearly three years ago, she jumped at the chance to participate in the Children's Futures' program. Sirvel started by being linked to West Ward Family Support/Parent Child Center Family Support Worker Johanna Truitt.
"Despite having been through pregnancy four times before, I was amazed at how much I was helped by the information and resources that my family support worker Johanna Truitt provided to me. On her visits to my home, Johanna made sure I had what I needed for Dominic," Sirvel explained. Sirvel added that as a result of her experiences with Children's Futures, she has become more self-reliant and confident as a parent. "I have encouraged many other women to take advantage of this program that has helped me so much," she concluded..
